I am a former Reading Specialist, currently residing in Pennsylvania. I hold a M.A.T. from Dallas Baptist University. My specialty is reading and spelling tutoring for dyslexia.
I took training in IEP Advocacy from Wrightslaw and from the
Dyslexia Training Institute.
Dyslexia tutoring requires a systematic and sequential approach. I received extensive training through Mansfield ISD, TX (Region XI) in how to identify and teach children with dyslexia. Research shows that teaching reading through an Orton-Gillingham based method works best. In tutoring, I use Barton, Heggerty, and Kilpatrick.

I have completed Advocacy Training through Wrightslaw and the Dyslexia Training Institute. Because of my role as a reading specialist, I have experience in IEP meetings for students with dyslexia. I can advise on appropriate services and accommodations for your student and help you in IEP meetings.
Lessons are offered on a one-on-one basis. For best results, it is recommended that students work with me for at least two sessions a week, all year, including summers. Sessions are 50 minutes long.
Signing up for dyslexia tutoring requires a commitment from the student AND the parent. Consistency is key. I offer remote and in-person tutoring.
My tutoring has the child as the center of all we do. My students' emotional wellbeing is as important as their academic progress.
